About the index

The Commonwealth SDG Index is a synopsis of the data for Commonwealth countries contained in the Sustainable Development Report 2021 and SDG Index produced by the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN): Sustainable Development Report – Sustainable Development Report

In order to assist countries in measuring their progress on the Sustainable Development Goals, SDSN has developed the SDG Index, which aggregates data for 165 countries and ranks them on the basis of their score on the index. The total score indicates a country’s overall progress towards achieving all 17 SDGs. A score of 100 indicates that all SDGs have been achieved. In developing the SDG Index, SSDN relies on the 17 SDGs as the overarching conceptual framework and complements official SDG data with other relevant data that can help bridge data gaps and enable a comprehensive cross-country comparison on the SDGs. The Commonwealth SDG Index is based on available data for 40 countries.
